Description

Art Nouveau opal, ruby and diamond ring. Set to centre with an oval cabochon natural white opal in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 1.50 carats, additionally set with two round star top rubies in closed back rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.02 carats, and further enhanced by two round old mine cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with an approximate combined weight of 0.30 carats, to an elaborate cluster design with millegrain decoration to the centre, flanked on either side by two winged female forms decoratively enriched with plique-à-jour enamel, each tapering inwards to form a solid flat shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold, indistinct maker's mark, French, circa 1900.
