Antique peridot and pearl pendant/brooch/necklace. The central lower drop is set with a natural emerald-cut peridot in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 2.50 carats, surrounded by ninty nine natural seed pearls in total of varying sizes symmetrically interspersed throughout the piece in closed back millegrain, grain and rubover settings. The peridot is surrounded by ornate gold openwork of a foliate scrolled form with bow detail, extending down from an articulated link suspended from a central upper floral design fitted to two framing gold scrolls with elegant gold floral forms leading up to articulated links attached to a ribbed 15 carat gold twist chain with C-clasp. The lower drop is fitted with a brooch bar and hook, and can be detatched from the link above to be worn as a brooch or with it as a pendant. The upper section can be worn as a necklace either with or without the lower section. Marked 15 carat yellow gold, circa 1890.
