Description
15ct gold signet ring, English circa 1922. Shield shaped signet ring, engraved with the 'Percy' family crest and motto 'Esperance en Dieu' from the French 'Hope in God'. The fifth earl of Northumberland Henry Algernon Percy was so fond of his family motto that he wrote a series of verses on it and had them inscribed on the walls of his hall at 'Leckynfield'. The current Percy family seat is Alnwick Castle.
