Royal Engagement: Sapphire and Diamond Cluster Rings

The ring, composed of an oval sapphire encircled by a single row of fourteen diamonds, was given by Prince Charles to Lady Diana Spencer just under three decades ago.  The ring was purchased by Charles from the crown jeweller Garrard, with sapphires reportedly being one of Diana's favourites gemstones.  Prince William inherited the ring from his mother's estate upon her tragic death in 1997. When asked why he selected this ring for his bride-to-be, the William stated, ‘It was my mother's engagement ring. This was my way of keeping her close to it all.’

Though the royal ring discussed is perhaps the most classic of cluster designs, sapphire and diamond cluster rings come in a wide variety of styles, shapes and sizes, certain to accommodate any taste or budget.
